Utah Company Promotes Work-At-Home Day to Protest Fuel Prices, Air PollutionFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact:
(Pleasant Grove, UT) – May 9, 2007 – With fuel prices passing $3 per gallon in Utah, and expected to rise as far as $4 per gallon, a Pleasant Grove company is promoting working from home. “The UK is observing a national Work From Home day on May 18th,” says Donna Vazquez, owner of Busy Bee Virtual Assistance. “I thought that would make a difference here along the Wasatch Front.” Although there is a one-day boycott of gas stations planned, Vazquez insists that won’t make much of a difference. After all, consumers will simply purchase fuel either the day before or day after. What might work, however, is a drop in consumption. If everyone who can, will work at home on May 18, we could have a chance to see what a difference that will make in congestion, air quality, and demand for fuel. Work At Home Day isn’t a day off, it’s serious attempt to get businesses to try out home working, at least a couple of days a week. Technology is making the daily commute obsolete for many workers, Vazquez points out “Many workers don’t really need to make the daily commute. The drive in to work is becoming a waste of time and, increasingly, money.” Busy Bee Virtual Assistance is located in Pleasant Grove, Utah. They have a website, www.busybeevas.com, that allows them to service clients both nationally and world wide.
